Hello Lovelies, I’m Cala.
It is my joy to share the beauty I see around me
My mixed media art blends layered collage, metallic pigments and leafing, and luminous
oil paints in a fusion of realism and expressionism to explore the deep connection between the natural world, feminine archetypes, and the inner mythologies that shape who we are.
I think of painting as dreaming with my eyes open —an intuitive process where images rise slowly from texture, emotion, and memory.
I was born in northeastern Pennsylvania at the very peak of the vibrant autumn colors. Growing up in an Italian Catholic family surrounded by icons, symbols, and the Divine Feminine, I absorbed a rich visual language that lives on in my work, though transformed:
the women I paint stand as modern icons—embodied, intuitive, and connected to both earth and cosmos. They are invitations to pause, reflect, and enter a more contemplative inner space.
Throughout my 20’s, I traveled widely as a young artist, gathering inspiration from landscapes, cultures, and the open sky; painting as I went and selling my work on the road.
Later, I spent years living alone in a forest cabin, where the rhythms of the natural world and the quiet terrain of the soul became an integral part of my creative process.
Healing from chronic illness reshaped me, and art has been not just my practice, but my medicine.
My current series, SuperBloom, is a celebration of creative flourishing and personal transformation. Each piece is a meditation on renewal, abundance, and becoming—an exploration of the beauty that emerges when we allow ourselves to grow beyond what we knew.
They reflect states of inner knowing, of meditation, of ecstatic becoming. They are women in states of transformation, just like I was—and still am.
I view each painting as an offering: a portal into beauty, mystery, and the evolving story of the human spirit.
My art is for my fellow seekers. For those who feel deeply, who have carried pain in silence, who are learning to bloom in their own wild way. It’s for anyone who has walked through darkness and come out more luminous.
You are not alone. You are not too much. You are art, too.
My hope is that my paintings offer a quiet space in a noisy world—a place to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with the beauty and wildness inside and around us.
And that my practice of seeking out the awe and gorgeousness and mystery of this life can bring a little bright spot to your own day.
If my work speaks to you, I invite you to explore, connect, and find the piece that mirrors your own unfolding.
